“SJ IS OKAY” began as personal mantra and quiet reminder while living in Melbourne, Victoria in 2021.
The act of creating is sincerely meditative for me, the focus being within the process rather than the outcome. Drawn to layering contrasting colours, flowing brush strokes and organic patterns, interwoven to reinterpret the world as I feel it rather than simply what’s seen.
With a personal ethos of: Why recreate something, when I can reimagine it?
Raised across a variety of landscapes in Australia, my journey started in the small fishing town of Dunalley, Tasmania, later travelling the country in a van and spending my formative years in the rural outback of the Wheatbelt community in Western Australia, before returning to Tasmania to finish school. As an adult, the seed of curiosity to experience new landscapes continued to grow leading me to experience contrasting environments such as the bustling and creative cities of Melbourne and Brisbane.
At heart, I will always be a small town lass making sense of the world through colour and a sense of curiosity.
Currently based in Brisbane, Australia and beginning a long-awaited chapter to move abroad in 2026, with a return to small town living within the creative community of Hebden Bridge, UK.
